When it’s raining, you can still hear the river.
And when the river flows, you can still hear the rain.
The rush of both can reach your ears if you sit still and really listen.
So quiet now, and listen.
Your blood is small water.
Your thoughts are big water.
But your bones are sand, so you can sit there, safe. They will not crumble beneath you. Nor will the earth you stand on.
So bring down your shoulders. Breathe in and out. Big water, small water. River, and rain.
Now allow big water to become small. Let the big rush of big water turn to a trickle. Let the small rush of small water become the only thing you hear.
Thought to blood. Blood to water.
Let it flow through you, and away.
And breathe.
You are big water.
You are small water.
You have always been all of it, all at the same time.
This short piece is a meditation that I intend to record as audio in the coming months. For now, enjoy another of my more expressive pieces, titled The Things That Stay The Same.
